What is serving?
Serving isn’t something we need from you, it’s an opportunity we have for you.
At THEHEART, we know we couldn’t do any of the things that we do without our amazing team members who serve on Sunday mornings and throughout the week. Serving is a choice that can give you a whole new perspective and introduce you to some amazing people, all while glorifying God in the process. When you choose to serve at THEHEART, you are choosing to partner with God in bringing the Kingdom of Heaven down to the City of San Marcos.
Where can I serve?
There are so many different ways to serve at THEHEART! Whatever skills and talents you have, we’re sure we have a place for you. If you’re a friendly person who loves to greet people, we’d love to have you on the Welcome Team or the Connect Center. If you are passionate about creating a space for others to experience the heart of God, then you could be a perfect fit for the HEART Band, Production Team, or Set Up/Tear Down. Maybe you love teaching the younger generation about the love of Jesus - then HEARTkids might be the right fit for you! If you have a creative eye and capacity for dreaming big, then you’ll fit right in on our Creative Team or Visual Media Team. Even if you want to serve during the week and not on Sundays, we have a place for you!

SERVE FAQ
We know that if you didn’t grow up in church, or it’s been a while since you have been to church, you may not know that the entire Sunday experience and everything throughout the week is taken care of purely by people who volunteer their time and their talents. It’s people like you that say “Yes!” to volunteering, to helping, to serving! Here are some questions that might help you find out how you can be a part of what God is doing in this community!
How often would I need to help? | We have found that the easiest schedule for people is to serve every other week to be in a rhythm, but you could do once a month if that works best for you. It’s not about how often we would need you, but that serving helps to grow you spiritually and connect with the community!
What if I get busy and can’t make it? | Our mission at THEHEART is to connect people to the heart of God, and we are able to accomplish that with amazing people like you making the commitment to serve each week! However, we realize that you have a family, a job, and a life outside of church. Things happen. Our goal is not to trap you into anything. Communication is key! As long as you can communicate with your Team Leader or Department Leader, you’re gold!
How long am I committing to help? | We don’t have any 6 month or 1 year commitment that you would need to sign up for. We recommend giving wherever you try a few months to see if it’s something you like to do. But, you aren’t locked into anything!
I don’t have a lot of time during the week, that counts me out right? | No way! There are many different departments and positions that you can have a huge impact with as little as an hour per week. Sundays are a great way to start by showing up a little early or staying a little late. Remember, it’s not about us needing something from you, it’s about what serving can do FOR you! It grows you from the inside out, even if it’s only 1 hour per week.
I don’t know what I’m good at, where would I even help? | You are our absolute favorite! It’s so hard for us to see what we are good at. But, we have amazing leaders that can train you in any of the areas that we have at THEHEART and help you get the skills to do any number of things. We also have some key areas that you can serve in that don’t take any major skills, just a willingness and desire to help! If that’s you, then there are so many ways you can have an impact on this community!
What if I’m not available to help on Sundays? | There are more than a few areas that you could help that are for people that can help during the week. Even if you have a regular 9-5 job, there are ways to help!
Our marketing team could use your help in creating content that they could teach how to write!
You could help post on Instagram and Facebook (This is how most people hear about THEHEART, talk about an impact!)
Make phone calls and connections with new people that visit THEHEART
Are you the creative type? We can teach you to be, you can help record/edit videos and take photos at events.
Our creative team needs your vision and creativity on graphics for Sundays and for our marketing team as well as our Message Series!
