What is Baptism?
Baptism is a key step in the growing and building of our faith. When you choose to be baptized you are making the bold choice of taking a step in faith alongside your friends, family and community to outwardly express the life change you have experienced in Jesus Christ!
What can I expect?
We do baptisms in the San Marcos River, at Dog Beach. When you sign up to be baptized, a leader will reach out to you to talk with you more about your decision and what to look forward to.
We encourage you to invite your family and friends, but lots of people from our community will be there to support you too! We love to come together to share in and celebrate the life change happening in our community- so when you come out of the water, you can expect lots of cheering!

“I embarked on my journey of faith as something I was doing for me and with only me with God by my side. I didn’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable due to the negative connotation that sometimes religion has with me being a member of the LGBTQ community. I had an intense pull to baptism one Sunday, feeling like God needed me to do this, that I was ready! The week came and I didn’t invite any of my friends or family. The day of baptism at Dog Beach changed my life. That morning I had felt so nervous! I all of a sudden was surrounded by people that loved me. I had the community of THEHEART who had helped me on my journey of faith, but I also had amazing friends who had shown up on their own merit! I just remember feeling so blessed which made me so calm! Dom prayed over me and dunked me into the river, it was so peaceful, so silent, so calming. Then as I came out of the water hearing the roar of all those people that love me is something I will never forget. I truly felt God’s presence and am thankful for the way He has worked in my life!”
Going under the water was a burial of your old life; coming up out of it was a resurrection, God raising you from the dead as he did Christ.
